This project rethinks aging pump and gate infrastructure in Suzhou’s historic water city. Once essential to the urban river system, these facilities now fragment the waterfront and limit public use. By transforming them into integrated public spaces, the design reconnects the waterfront through improved accessibility, community programs, and landscape interventions, creating a more open and socially active urban environment.
